Artisanal Visit

A no-nonsense, crafts-focused project connecting the Moroccan traditional crafts and Fez visitors.

Fez / Sefrou.

What we offer

Culture Vulture invites you to the Fez region to meet the artisan and explore the rich heritage that Morocco and its people continue to convey through the crafts.  Accompanied by a cultural facilitator, take an immersive visit roaming in and out of the workshops and explore what lies behind the doors and in the hearts and minds of the traditional artisan-ship.

There are various types of immersive options for you to meet the crafts people, gain an insight into the crafts and further explore Morocco.

The Options

  1. Half-day, artisan tour in Fez, one of Morocco’s craft capitol.
  2. A half-day excursion visiting the crafts people in Sefrou, a semi-rural market town some 25 km out of Fez.
  3. For the creative curious with more time, a 2-day visit, in both Fez and Sefrou and stay overnight in an old Jewish House in Sefrou’s medina.
  4. An insightful visit around the relatively new industrial, craft area of Fez city. ( Ain Okbi )
  5. Accompanied visit around Fez’ government run crafts school to meet the masters and apprentices and taste the future of the traditional Moroccan crafts.

Who we are

Culture Vultures is an arts and culture organization coming from the soul of Sefrou, Fez.  Set up and run by visual artist Jess Stephens, it is the facilitation and connecting of the local and the global with art at its core that drives the wind in our sails.

We believe in responsible travel with a social impact.  Artisans are tipped for their time and information sharing, we value their skills, hospitality and input.

What to do next

Choose which artisan visit or combination of which suits you, contact us and let us know your preferences. Prices vary depending on the excursion and number of people.

Note that artisan visits are not conducted on a Friday as it is the Holy day and the artisan’s day off.  Ramadan and other religious holidays may have a specific schedule.
